Hamilton Police say a local resident helped officers arrest a man who had assaulted a Walmart security guard.Police say a woman at the Walmart at The Centre on Barton was seen acting suspiciously while walking around the store.As she left, she was approached by loss prevention officers.In an attempt to flee she called out to a man standing nearby, who confronted the officers and slashed one of them with a knife.The man and woman split up and took off on foot.A citizen who watched the interaction unfold from a distance went after the man and took him down.Once he saw the knife, he let the man go.Police say shortly after, a Hamilton Police officer caught up with the suspect.The officer deployed a taser after seeing the knife.Martinus Gordyn, 24, from Haggersville was arrested and charged with failing to comply with probation and assault with a weapon.Police say the Walmart security guard was not injured.The woman has been identified.
