The nonprofit Concerned Humans Against Poverty is hosting a community dinner and discussion tonight to talk about the best ways to help homeless people in Vancouver during the holidays. Attendees will learn about various organizations and volunteer opportunities.“The holiday season always shows an influx in generosity but even with the best intentions, sometimes generosity can miss the mark,” Richard McCluskey, executive director of CHAP, said in a news release. “Safety for both our homeless neighbors and community members are of utmost importance. This is why we are encouraging community members to volunteer with established groups versus going it alone.”This free event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Clark County Genealogical Society located at 717 Grand Blvd. Find more information at www.facebook.com/chapvnc or 503-862-3474.
